Dr Derek Rogers is a Chief Engineer working in the Defence and Space industry. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Engineering Executive and Fellow of Engineers Australia as well as a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He has been the recipient of a number of prestigious engineering and leadership awards. He holds qualifications in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mathematical and Computer Sciences, and Science and Technology Commercialisation all from the University of Adelaide.

Outside of working in industry for almost the past 30 years, Derek is an Adjunct Professor in Systems Engineering with the University of South Australia, Adjunct Senior Lecturer with the University of Adelaide in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and has sat on advisory committees for Flinders University. He has co-supervised Masters and PhD students, delivered courses and guest lectures, and a large number of academic publications. He has also been a member of a Red Cross Advisory Committee on International Humanitarian Law since 2015, and was a member of a Federal Government Advisory Council on Intellectual Property between 2010 and 2012.
