Julian grew up in the Beaujolais wine region in France and migrated to Australia in 2004.

He began a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Adelaide, prior to returning to France to work on the family winery and for Georges Duboeuf Negociant, ahead of returning to Australia to undertake a Bachelor of Commerce degree, graduating in 2016.

Julian was selected for the SA Government Department of Treasury and Finance Graduate Program in 2017. Subsequently, he worked on some of the biggest commercial projects in SA Government history, including the outsourcing of the Adelaide Metropolitan Passenger Rail Network in 2019. Two years at the Office of the Industry Advocate saw Julian develop expertise in advising government and industry on ways to maximise Australian Industry Participation in government contracts.

Since 2023 Julian has been working in the Department of Defence, as Assistant Director, Australian Industry Capability, managing the independent AIC Assurance program, and providing tender evaluation advice on AIC submissions for defence acquisition and sustainment projects.

Outside of work, Julian commercialised his father's SA boutique wine business, Jacques Audras Fine Wines, and is engaged as member of the French Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since 2021 he has been the president of the University of Adelaide Young Alumni Network.
